EN : I paint, with a certain tenderness, a unique portrait of the city of Lorient, known as An Orient in Breton. Behind the nonchalance apparent of its straight avenues, the city reveals a completely different face. Located on the Atlantic coast, it rebuilt itself, like its Breton sisters Brest and Saint-Nazaire, after the devastation of the Second World War. A port city looked out to sea, Lorient has gracefully adorned itself with contemporary architecture, enhanced by colorful facades that lend it a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
FR : Je dresse, avec une certaine tendresse, un portrait singulier de la ville de Lorient, appelée An Orient en breton. Derrière l’apparente nonchalance de ses avenues rectilignes, la ville révèle un tout autre visage. Située sur la façade atlantique, elle s’est reconstruite, à l’instar de ses sœurs bretonnes Brest et Saint-Nazaire, après les ravages de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Port tourné vers le large, Lorient s’est parée avec finesse d’une architecture contemporaine, agrémentée de façades colorées qui lui confèrent une atmosphère chaleureuse et accueillante.
